Former England all-round maestro Moeen Ali is back from domestic retirement, penning a 2026 Blast deal with Yorkshire that could stretch to 2027. The Wednesday reveal has fans dreaming big for a club hungry for T20 glory.

In his words: ‘Over the moon to link up with Yorkshire for Blast. Iconic club with rich heritage, but the squad’s potential and direction hooked me. Plenty of skill there. Can’t wait to collaborate with Anthony and drive progress. Headingley’s always been special – the surface, electric atmosphere, loyal supporters. This is a fresh adventure I’m craving. Bringing my expertise, loving every ball, and aiding Yorkshire’s fightback.’

Yorkshire slumped to eighth in the North Group last season without a Blast crown to their name. Losing David Malan and Jordan Thompson stings, yet signings like Sam Whiteman, Andrew Tye, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Logan van Beek inject overseas quality.

Gavin Hamilton, CGM, enthused: ‘Moeen’s elite all-round ability and off-field magnetism are game-changers. As we fortify our T20 unit for sustained Blast contention, his pedigree and guidance are priceless. Expect him to galvanize the dressing room and uplift cricket across Yorkshire.’

The signing mirrors the club’s forward momentum and nurturing ethos, with Moeen set to benchmark excellence and foster growth.

Moeen’s T20 journey is legendary: dual IPL wins with CSK, Worcestershire’s 2018 Blast breakthrough. In 420 outings (375 inns), 7,792 runs (3×100, 37×50, max 121), 271 scalps. After hanging up international boots in 2024, Yorkshire stands to gain immensely from his seasoned campaign.
