India’s telecommunications landscape has reached new heights, with 5G now accessible in nearly every district—99.9 percent—and overall telecom density at 86.76 percent, as detailed in the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament.

This evolution over the last decade has dismantled barriers between cities and villages, elevating density from 75.23 percent through targeted expansions and policy reforms.

Embodying the vision of a digital India, the ecosystem emphasizes four core areas: inclusive connectivity for development, enhanced performance and transformation, rapid growth with user-friendly solutions, and fortified security protocols.

Data centers are a cornerstone of this digital push. Industrial estimates peg June 2025 capacity at 1,280 MW, supported by 130 private and 49 state-operated centers. With digitization accelerating via cloud, AI, IoT, and 5G, experts forecast a jump to 4 GW by decade’s end.

In space, India operates 56 assets: communication, navigation, scientific, observation, and tech demo satellites. The year’s highlights include SPADEX’s autonomous docking milestone—making India the fourth globally—and the GSLV-F15’s NVS-02 launch, the 100th from Sriharikota on January 29, 2025, bolstered by indigenous cryogenic engines and rising private participation.

These strides promise sustained economic vitality and technological leadership.
