Mamata Govt Already Gave Land to BSF, Says TMC’s Ghosh

Amid controversy sparked by Calcutta High Court’s order to the West Bengal government for handing border land to BSF, senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh mounted a robust defense, insisting the transfer was done well in advance.

Addressing the press, Ghosh clarified the situation meticulously. ‘I won’t comment on the court directive itself. But the land has been handed over previously—BSF operates fully there, covering up to 50 km inland from the border. No reports indicate gaps.’

He highlighted operational realities: ‘If jurisdiction is with BSF, state police aren’t accountable for border crossings. This is BSF’s domain. The court order aside, BSF seems confused. We’ve complied fully—now it’s just political maneuvering, detrimental to India.’

On Amit Shah’s visit, Ghosh lampooned BJP’s election-time strategy. ‘PM Modi, Nadda, and others swarm Bengal pre-polls, then go MIA. Modi’s visits are teleprompter rituals with no tangible outcomes here.’

Regarding efforts to politicize Sandeshkhali, he warned, ‘Deliberate attempts to mislead won’t succeed. Bengalis know their development architect—BJP gets no buy-in.’

Responding to RG Kar victim’s parents’ claims of TMC offers for electoral entry, Ghosh stated, ‘We’ve had no interaction. External forces are scripting lies from them.’

As Bengal braces for more political heat, Ghosh’s statements reposition the border land issue as a TMC vindication against perceived BJP-orchestrated smears.
