Get ready for another Imtiaz Ali masterpiece. The director, celebrated for soul-stirring films like Jab We Met and Rockstar, unveils details of his upcoming untitled romantic drama, set to light up cinemas on June 12.
A joint venture of Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, produced by Mohit Chaudhary, the film is nearing completion in post-production. Ali’s script and vision shine through, bolstered by the reunion of his powerhouse trio: A.R. Rahman scoring the melodies and Irshad Kamil crafting the lyrics—tried-and-tested in Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha, and Jab We Met.
The ensemble cast boasts Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah, each bringing unique flair to roles that probe the depths of human connections, love’s resilience, and separation’s sorrow. Beyond a simple romance, it paints a vivid portrait of national emotions on an epic scale.
Ali articulates the essence: ‘When no one else is around, you’re with me. Momin… Is love ever truly lost? Can you rip a home from a heart? This story has a massive heart, a broad canvas, yet remains profoundly personal—a boy’s and girl’s journey, intertwined with a nation’s.’
Dosanjh returns after Chamkila, Raina and Sharvari step into spotlight opportunities, and Shah’s mastery anchors the narrative. Arriving June 12, this exploration of love, detachment, and identity vows to forge lasting bonds with viewers, cementing Ali’s legacy in romantic cinema.
