In a significant diplomatic overture, Palestine’s top diplomat Warsean Agabekian has urged India to spearhead reconciliation between Palestine and Israel, citing New Delhi’s impartial friendships. The appeal was made during her visit to New Delhi for upcoming India-Arab conclaves.

Participating in the second IAFMM and fourth SOM slated for 2026, Agabekian anticipates robust Indian participation in peace processes, focusing on Gaza’s rebuilding and comprehensive solutions.

She described the meetings as prime venues for addressing the Palestinian cause, reconstruction efforts, peace strategies, and bilateral priorities with Arab nations. ‘As a mutual friend, India is ideally placed to connect the two sides and contribute ideas,’ Agabekian asserted.

The January 31 summit, co-hosted by India and UAE with Arab League attendees, amplifies multilateral engagement. The minister underscored the New York Declaration’s criticality, vowing cooperation with allies to fulfill its obligations toward sovereignty.

Outlining post-declaration moves, she stressed accountability among signatories. On India’s potential role in Trump-proposed Gaza initiatives, Agabekian noted it as a decision for New Delhi based on its world-power status.

Advocating Hamas’s weapon surrender for national cohesion, she denounced terrorism and cross-border violence, promoting dialogue and legal frameworks. This visit could mark a turning point, positioning India as a peacemaker in one of the world’s most intractable conflicts.
