Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Smriti Mandhana lifted the lid on her team’s mindset after clinching a spot in the Women’s Premier League 2026 final. Despite ups and downs, the core message to players remained: ‘Final is merely one victory distant.’ This clarity fueled their latest rout.

In Vadodara on Thursday, RCB crushed UP Warriors by 8 wickets in match 18. Holding foes to 143/8, RCB achieved the chase in a brisk 13.1 overs. The 2024 titleholders are primed for repeat success.

Post-match, Mandhana lauded the bowling revival. ‘Thrilling contest,’ she said. ‘UP Warriors’ openers Lanning and Deepti built 60-70 runs seamlessly, but our attack roared back. Grace’s wickets, de Klerk’s fire, and collective effort were spot-on. Such bowling synergy is mesmerizing.’

On bouncing back from two losses, she said, ‘We stayed level-headed, shunning drama. Strong in initial five games, we respected rivals’ brilliance, e.g., Sciver-Brunt recently. Practical reviews led to targeted enhancements.’

Mandhana credited consistent coaching. ‘Message identical across games: one win seals the final. Unwavering support staff communication aids immensely, win or lose. Three matches of this focus culminated in direct final qualification – pure elation.’

RCB’s march continues, with Mandhana’s steady hand guiding them toward history.
