The archery fields at NIS Patiala come alive with the 7th NTPC Para National Archery Championship 2026, unfolding from January 30 to February 2 under Punjab Archery Association stewardship. Over 190 para archers from 20+ states converge, shattering past records and underscoring archery’s rising appeal among the differently-abled.

Elite participants include globally acclaimed Harvinder Singh (Padma Shri), Rakesh Kumar (Arjuna Award), and Sheetal Devi (Paralympic bronze and Arjuna). Their expertise promises edge-of-seat action and invaluable guidance for aspirants.

Event novelties include a classification drive for budding talents and the national premiere of blind archery categories, steps vital for sport democratization.

Team coach Abhilasha Chaudhary highlighted: ‘A vital arena for all levels. Stars like Harvinder, Sheetal, Rakesh motivate. Patiala’s second hosting merits applause to organizers.’

Sheetal Devi beamed: ‘Delighted by novice enthusiasm post my internationals. Superb setup. Arjuna to my grit, family, coaches. Honored at NIS after Punjabi University sessions.’

Harvinder Singh observed: ‘From 2016’s modest numbers to now, growth is phenomenal. Media spotlight will recruit more, shaping futures in para archery.’

Appealing to print, electronic, and digital outlets, hosts seek broad coverage to elevate para sports visibility, ensuring sustained momentum beyond the ranges.
