Reflecting on the talk, PM Modi wrote on Facebook, ‘Just spoke to Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Eloína Rodríguez. Agreed to reinforce our bilateral ties in every domain and work towards a common goal of new milestones in India-Venezuela friendship.’
PMO sources revealed agreements to scale up partnerships in commerce, investments, energy sector, digital innovations, medical services, agricultural advancements, and grassroots connections. The leaders also aligned on critical regional and international topics, stressing enhanced collaboration for Global South nations.
They pledged sustained dialogue. Long-standing amicable bonds between the two countries stem from congruent stances on global politics and economics, extending to joint efforts in international forums. The 64th anniversary of diplomatic relations was observed in 2023, supported by longstanding missions in each capital.
A key oil exporter to India, Venezuela plays a vital role in energy supplies. Annual ITEC slots train Venezuelan specialists, complemented by ICCR’s four annual scholarships from 2017. Venezuela hosts roughly 50 NRIs and 30 PIOs.
This diplomatic outreach exemplifies India’s commitment to fostering strategic ties with resource-rich partners in Latin America.
