In a landmark move for Indian volleyball, the Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) was formally introduced in New Delhi. Backed by the Delhi Volleyball Association and Delhi Olympic Association, the league is designed to professionalize the sport and unearth top talent nationwide.

Niti Rawat and Jasoda Guliya, both former national volleyball athletes turned co-founders, led the announcement. The league will boast six franchises, incorporating players from Delhi and various parts of India via upcoming open trials—a process ensuring fairness and inclusivity.

The event saw participation from Kuldip Vats, who holds pivotal roles in the Delhi Olympic Association and Volleyball Federation of India. His endorsement was emphatic: DPVL will provide the professional avenue Delhi’s talents have long needed, strengthening volleyball from grassroots to elite levels.

Sudhir Vats of the Delhi Volleyball Association elaborated on its nurturing potential. By offering structured opportunities, the league will spotlight and advance local talent, aspiring to lead as India’s premier state professional volleyball circuit.

Jasoda Guliya, co-founder, painted a visionary picture. ‘We’re crafting a league with professional governance for lasting impact,’ she said. ‘It’s about sustainability—empowering players to grow, earn, and shine on the world stage through a thriving sports ecosystem.’

Niti Rawat complemented this by noting the void in professional outlets for Delhi’s skilled players. DPVL fills that gap with direct access to high-stakes competition and recognition.

A special highlight was the felicitation of Delhi’s junior boys’ and girls’ teams, the former fresh off a national championship silver. Such honors reinforce the league’s mission to bridge youth achievements to pro careers.

As the countdown to trials begins, DPVL emerges as a game-changer, blending competition, development, and professionalism to propel Indian volleyball forward.
