South-West Delhi police at Kishangarh have unraveled three auto theft incidents, cuffing two seasoned thieves in a tech-savvy sting. CCTV scrutiny and digital tracking were pivotal in closing the net on the criminals.
Recovered evidence featured three pilfered Chery alloy tires, disassembly tools, and the Hyundai Aura employed in the escapades. The suspects, Ankit (37) and Ketan Tokas from New Delhi, admitted to crimes motivated by substance abuse.
Triggering the probe was V Kumar’s e-FIR on January 29 after thieves stripped alloy wheels from his stationary Hyundai Aura. BNS charges were invoked swiftly. Forensic review of nearby cameras captured 2-3 dubious figures near the car at 5:30 PM on January 28, flagging a Hyundai as prime suspect—linked to Ankit.
Tech surveillance tracked their trails through Lajpat Nagar, Mahipalpur, and Kishangarh. Officers sprung a trap, seizing Ankit and his vehicle. Questioning yielded the stolen goods and Ketan’s arrest, along with specialized equipment.
Kudos to the squad of SI Dharmendra, HCs Yogesh and Ashok, Constables Sanjeev and Dharmendra, supervised by Inspector Ajay Kumar Yadav and ACP Melvin Vergis. Ankit’s shift from driving gigs to Rapido with the Aura financed their addictions.
Clearing three station dockets, this success highlights proactive policing, with further inquiries in progress.
