Noida’s law enforcement delivered a stunning victory by exposing and arresting members of an interstate car theft ring that weaponized technology for their heists. Sector-39 police, backed by surveillance experts, captured six key players in the operation.
From their possession: four cars totaling 40 lakh in value, specialized high-tech equipment for stealing, bogus number plates, and a Hyundai Ora used as a taxi for scouting. Identified culprits include Sameer alias Dawood, two named Salim, Azad, Mohsin, and Mohammad Faisal. Mastermind Azad boasts over 38 pending cases in Delhi-NCR and various states.
The gang’s strategy involved non-stop recce using the taxi with rotating drivers, followed by rapid thefts via key programmers and GPS disruptors. They fenced the cars quickly in regions like Mewat in Haryana and Rajasthan for paltry sums of 1-2 lakhs.
Recovered assets feature two Maruti Brezza, one Swift, and the Ora. Additional finds: six T-lock breakers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, OBD Star key tool, GPS jammer, two fake plates, and sundry implements.
This syndicate plagued Noida, Delhi, and further afield. Persistent surveillance and intelligence led to the Sector-82 ambush. The raiding party earned a 25,000-rupee reward from DCP. Police vow to unravel the full network.
