Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has rolled out a transformative education policy, committing to degree colleges in all Bihar blocks by July 2026. Targeting the stark disparity where 213 of 534 blocks have no colleges, this falls under Saat Nishchay-3’s education vow for a brighter tomorrow.
The announcement, made amid celebrations of the newly presented 2026-27 budget, prioritizes underserved regions. ‘Higher education must reach every doorstep, particularly for our daughters,’ Kumar stated, emphasizing inclusivity.
Beyond new setups, 55 established colleges will be reimagined as Centers of Excellence. Systematic enhancements include advanced labs, research centers, and vocational programs. Notably, the plan incorporates wisdom from long-serving faculty and alumni through structured consultations.
This dual strategy promises not just access but excellence, equipping youth with employable skills and revitalizing Bihar’s educational heritage. It aligns with broader goals of gender equity, reduced out-migration, and holistic state progress.
With generous budget backing, the initiative addresses long-standing grievances in rural education. Stakeholders anticipate it will spike female participation, create local jobs, and position Bihar as an education leader in eastern India. The roadmap ahead involves swift land acquisition, staffing, and affiliations to meet deadlines.
