Sonipat’s O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has achieved a historic milestone in its inaugural appearance in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026. Dominating India’s Law discipline at number one, JGU also secured a global top 300 berth among 53 countries’ institutions. Psychology earned national runner-up status and a top 500 worldwide position spanning 64 countries.
Further bolstering its reputation, JGU advanced in Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business & Economics, affirming its multidisciplinary excellence. Competing against 2,191 universities from 115 countries, only those passing THE’s tough thresholds on data, teaching, and research made the cut—JGU not only qualified but thrived.
The framework employs 18 indicators across five pillars: teaching, research environment, quality, international outlook, and industry. Research claims the lion’s share at 60-65%, measuring everything from citation impact to industrial collaborations.
In Law and Psychology, international outlook was JGU’s strongest suit, driven by global faculty and partnerships. Research quality topped charts in humanities and business fields. Founder Chancellor Naveen Jindal praised the team’s data-driven commitment, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Raj Kumar celebrated JGU’s solidification as a top Indian multidisciplinary hub amid India’s global higher ed surge.
Dean Prof. Padmanabha Ramanujam called it a ‘remarkable initiation,’ embodying years of visionary growth. These outcomes highlight JGU’s research momentum, international engagement, and academic superiority, marking a pivotal step in its global ascent.
