History was made in Vadodara as Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed their second Women’s Premier League title, thrashing Delhi Capitals by six wickets in a high-scoring final at BCA Stadium. The victory, powered by a sensational century stand, cements RCB’s resurgence in women’s cricket.
Delhi Capitals, sent in to bat, racked up 203/4. Openers Shafali Verma (20) and Lizelle Lee (37) laid a solid 49-run platform in 5.5 overs. Post their dismissals at 72/2, Jemimah Rodrigues (57 off 37, 8×4) and Laura Wolvaardt (44) rebuilt with 76 runs.
Chinelle Henry’s unbeaten 35 in a 54-run fourth-wicket partnership with Wolvaardt pushed the scoreboard. RCB’s attack was led by Sayali Satghare, Arundhati Reddy, and Nadine de Klerk, each snaring a wicket.
RCB’s reply saw Grace Harris depart for 9 early on. Captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wolvaardt then took control, adding 165 runs off 92 balls. Wolvaardt’s elegant 79 (54 balls, 14 fours) fell at 174/2, Mandhana’s ferocious 87 (41 balls, 12×4, 3×6) next, with Richa Ghosh adding 6.
With the match on a knife-edge, Radha Yadav (12* off 5, 2×4) delivered the finishing touches in 19.4 overs. Chinelle Henry starred with 2/28 for Capitals; Nandini Sharma and Minnu Mani took one apiece.
This win avenges RCB’s previous near-misses, following their 2023/24 success. Delhi Capitals falter in their fourth consecutive final, as Mumbai Indians retain wins from the inaugural and third seasons.
