Parliamentarian Hema Malini engaged in a key discussion with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday at the Delhi Secretariat, focusing on pressing development concerns for the metropolis.
Social media updates from the CMO described the session as covering diverse topics, highlighting collaborative efforts to propel Delhi forward.
Earlier that day, on World Cancer Day, Gupta teamed up with Union Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav at the NDMC Convention Centre for the ‘Jan-Jan Jage, Cancer Bhage’ awareness campaign, urging widespread vigilance against cancer.
Gupta’s speech underscored cancer’s multifaceted destruction: it ravages physical well-being, shatters mental fortitude and confidence, and burdens families financially. Victory over it, she asserted, hinges on societal unity and empathetic engagement, extending far beyond hospital walls.
She hailed the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ rise as Delhi’s frontline health network. About 350 such mandirs now provide no-cost screening for oral, breast, and cervical cancers, complemented by free medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics.
Ayushman Bharat’s reach is staggering—43 crore-plus registrations nationwide, with Delhi residents numbering in lakhs among beneficiaries. Paralleling this, over 16,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras offer drugs at 90% discounts, and Delhi is ramping up their presence to democratize healthcare.
In a game-changing announcement, Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre targets upgrades at AIIMS, Safdarjung, and Ram Manohar Lohia hospitals. This infusion will fortify infrastructure, deploy advanced tools, and ensure respectful, high-quality care for all patients.
The CM pledged her government’s solidarity with health and service institutions, forging a resilient ecosystem for Delhi’s public well-being.
