Tragedy struck Rehiya village in Palamu’s Manatu area when a young man’s life was cut short by a road mishap on the very day his sister was set to tie the knot. Monday’s fatal accident has left an entire community reeling from shock and grief.
Akbar Ansari, aged 20 and son of local resident Aliim Ansari, was en route to Padma on his two-wheeler, loaded with wedding shopping errands. The village hummed with festive energy, but it all changed in an instant near Kusdi’s Kartik Oraon High School.
A head-on smash with another bike carrying Punil Kumar, Soni Kumari, and Puja Kumari from Aduariya spelled doom. The girls and their relative were post-exam commuters. Both machines were totaled in the high-velocity impact.
Death claimed Akbar immediately, injuring the others critically. Quick-thinking locals ferried the wounded to Manatu CHC, from where they were escalated to MMCH Medininagar. Police chief Vicky Kumar’s team took charge, dispatching the body for autopsy and confiscating wreckage.
Preliminary probes highlight excessive speed as the culprit. From bridal mehendi to mourning rites, Rehiya’s mood flipped dramatically. This poignant incident underscores the fragility of life amid everyday roads, prompting calls for stricter traffic enforcement.
