BJP leader Shrikant Bharatiya lauded RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s advocacy for conferring Bharat Ratna on Veer Savarkar, calling it a heartfelt expression from those who love India and its nationhood.
During an IANS interview in Mumbai, Bharatiya painted a vivid picture of Savarkar’s legacy—his total surrender to the cause, profound sacrifices, and martyrdom-like endurance known across the globe. Everyone recalls his pivotal actions in the independence movement, Bharatiya noted, adding that Bhagwat has voiced the feelings of millions.
Reacting sharply to Congress MP Imran Masood’s statements on Savarkar, Bharatiya retorted: ‘Didn’t Masood grow up in India? He owes it to himself to learn about our freedom struggle—its warriors, their offerings, and Savarkar’s 14 years in the infamous Black Water prison.’ Such oversight is deeply regrettable, he opined.
Bharatiya counseled Masood to immerse in the stories of selfless patriots who shaped modern India.
Regarding Ritu Tawde’s candidacy for BMC mayor, Bharatiya highlighted promise fulfillment: ‘Mumbai was assured a Hindu, Marathi Mahayuti representative, as pledged by Fadnavis. Tawde checks every box—we’ve kept faith with the people.’
Bhagwat’s UCC remarks received Bharatiya’s nod, as BJP has championed it for years through public consultations. ‘This push integrates citizens into society’s core, embodying national aspirations,’ he concluded, emphasizing its unifying potential.
