India’s infrastructure revolution gains steam as the Network Planning Group (NPG) completes appraisal of 352 projects valued at Rs 16.10 lakh crore. This update, tabled in Lok Sabha by Commerce and Industry Minister of State Jitin Prasada, reflects the robust framework of Prime Minister Gati Shakti.
Breakdown shows 201 projects approved, 167 advancing on-ground. Established within PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, NPG ensures early-stage alignment across transport modes, departmental collaboration, full connectivity chains, site-centric growth, and analytics-led choices—laying a solid foundation for success.
Backing this is strategic funding: Rs 5,000 crore disbursed to states as 50-year interest-free loans by the Expenditure Department. Progress tracking is comprehensive, with the Statistics Ministry overseeing central schemes over Rs 150 crore.
Enter the Project Monitoring Group (PMG), dedicated to mega-projects (Rs 500 crore+). Its five-tier system routes simple snags to ministries and escalates tough ones to PRAGATI, optimizing reviews, minimizing duplication, and sharpening focus on priorities.
The masterstroke? Seamless PM Gati Shakti-PMG integration, which has slashed delays by rapidly clearing regulatory hurdles. This holistic governance model promises faster project delivery, unleashing economic multipliers through enhanced mobility, trade efficiency, and regional prosperity in India’s journey to Viksit Bharat.
