Cracking down on urban crime, Ghitorni Metro Police arrested 42-year-old Daljit Singh alias Dalbir Singh in connection with two brazen iPhone snatchings reported via e-FIRs on February 13. A specialized unit, headed by SI Rajendra and Raj Kumar, launched a multi-pronged hunt. They analyzed CCTV from Hauz Khas and nearby areas, identifying the culprit’s telltale moves. Surveillance tech and a reliable tip culminated in a dramatic arrest near Uttam Nagar, where Dalbir eked out a living selling fruits.
Questioning revealed a grim tale: battling substance abuse, he turned to snatching luxury phones, particularly iPhones, to sustain his fix. Proceeds vanished into drugs, fueling endless thefts. His criminal history dates to 2008, boasting nine cases—six at Ghitorni, plus others at Rajiv Chowk, Shastri Park, and Paharganj.
