A brazen theft rocked Bihar politics when diamond jewelry and a premium watch were pilfered from the car of BJP MLA Maithili Thakur’s mother in Darbhanga. Bharati Thakur reported the incident at Ghanshyampur police station after a meeting in Lala Patti on February 1.
The sequence of events paints a picture of calculated opportunism. Arriving for the gathering, Bharati secured her purse in the car before joining the assembly. Crowds provided perfect cover for thieves who struck swiftly, vanishing with items of significant value.
An FIR was filed promptly, with SHO Alok Kumar outlining the complaint: diamond studs and watch taken from the unattended purse. Investigation teams are actively pursuing clues, including CCTV analysis and door-to-door inquiries in the village.
Maithili Thakur, the Alijnagar MLA whose voice has enchanted Bihar through traditional songs, now faces this personal setback. The theft, valued in lakhs, has intensified police efforts amid public scrutiny.
Experts point to this as emblematic of petty crimes escalating in rural Bihar, urging event organizers to implement parking security. As probes deepen, expectations mount for swift recovery and arrests, restoring faith in local law enforcement.
