Delhi’s housing crisis took center stage as Minister Ashish Sood inspected the forlorn flats at Bhalswa Vijay Chowk. These 1,700-odd units, erected in 2014 for slum evictees, now present a heartbreaking scene of decay—empty shells battered by time, urgently needing intervention to become livable.
In a candid press interaction, Sood slammed the neglect and rallied his team. ‘Our government is laser-focused on giving slum families pucca houses with all amenities. Officials, perform thorough inspections and start fixes without delay,’ he commanded.
Emphasis was laid on structural integrity first, followed by essentials like electricity, water, sewers, and roads. Explaining the backstory, Sood noted the original rehab intent thwarted by various snags. Repairs will pave the way for prompt possession by rightful beneficiaries.
He pledged a corruption-free, fair allotment drive. ‘We’re not shoving people into temporary sites anymore. Secure, clean homes are the right of every Delhiite,’ Sood promised. This proactive stance reflects AAP’s broader vision for equitable urban development.
With deadlines set for handovers, the Bhalswa project could soon symbolize hope, rescuing wasted infrastructure and restoring faith in government delivery.
