Delhi’s battle against parking chaos took a decisive turn Monday when Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta cut the ribbon on a futuristic multi-level car park at Nehru Place in South Delhi. This landmark opening underscores the BJP government’s commitment to urban renewal.
CM Gupta reflected on decades of neglect under prior dispensations, with projects stuck in red tape. In a remarkable turnaround, her administration activated high-tech parking in Punjabi Bagh and Greater Kailash in record time.
“Accelerating these developments fulfills the people’s clear directive,” she stated, lauding LG Saxena’s role in the government’s inaugural successes. The impressive six-floor edifice accommodates 650 sedans and 352 motorcycles concurrently, handling nearly 2,000 vehicles daily via smart turnover.
A broader blueprint for parking and green spaces on DDA land targets high-need areas, Gupta disclosed. The ceremony drew South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar, and top officials.
Previous setups failed due to absent coordination with the LG and Centre, leading to project paralysis, she observed. Now, LG’s rigorous site visits and oversight of sanitation, roads, and builds have supercharged progress.
In tandem with central support, this synergy is fast-tracking a pristine, structured, and advanced Delhi.
