India’s influence in artificial intelligence is undeniable, as a freshly released white paper discloses that 16 percent of the global AI workforce is of Indian origin. This revelation, coupled with forecasts of India fueling 20 percent of global GDP growth over 15 years, signals a transformative era ahead.
Presented at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Prosus-led ‘AI for All’ paper, backed by BCG and MeitY, challenges the doom-and-gloom view of AI. Instead, it promotes AI as a driver of enhanced productivity, robust institutions, and broad digital inclusion.
Based on dialogues with policymakers and domain leaders, the document posits that equitable advancement will stem from disciplined AI rollout and mass adoption. Spotlighting successes like UPI, Aadhaar, Jan Dhan, Account Aggregator, and ONDC, it envisions India pioneering AI integration for developing economies.
MeitY’s Abhishek Singh, also IndiaAI Mission CEO, pointed to India’s digital backbone and talent reservoir: ‘Institutionalizing these will yield real-world impact.’
Rantala Chandrashekhar, AI for All mentor, called for weaving AI into agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, and finance to generate employment and build enduring productivity. Sehraj Singh of Prosus India echoed that scale and execution, not just access, define progress.
BCG’s Vipin V advocated viewing AI strategically, aligning it with concrete results and long-term systemic excellence.
In essence, this comprehensive blueprint equips stakeholders to harness AI for a future of inclusive development, with India leading the charge in job creation and economic vitality.
