Fresh threats have cast a long shadow over the CBI investigation into the mysterious death of a NEET student from Bihar’s Jehanabad district. A second handwritten warning, vowing the death of the family’s son, has intensified the atmosphere of dread for the bereaved relatives.
CBI sleuths wasted no time on Tuesday, raiding Shambhu Girls Hostel in Patna and then heading to the family’s rural abode in Jehanabad. The deceased’s sibling was whisked away to Patna for grilling, part of a broader effort to crack the case wide open.
The alarming note, found perilously close to the home, chillingly references the lost daughter and predicts the son’s demise in mere days. It’s the second such missive, succeeding one from February 14 that evaded security to land at their threshold, purportedly from a villager.
Responding swiftly, Shakurabad police have fortified the premises with constant guards. SHO Rahul Kumar affirmed the lodged FIR and ongoing hunts for culprits. Still, the father decries bureaucratic indifference, urging fortified defenses and rapid resolutions.
‘Fear paralyzes us,’ he shared starkly. ‘Twice they’ve dared to threaten our boy’s life right outside. We cling to faith alone.’
From a hasty suicide verdict, the narrative shifted post-forensic scrutiny uncovering assault traces, fueling mass indignation. Family claims of rape, murder, and investigative sabotage prompted an SIT, which invoked stringent child laws upon verifying the victim’s underage status.
As tensions simmer, this episode exposes deep fissures in student safety nets across Bihar’s coaching ecosystem. The CBI’s momentum offers glimmers of hope, but until threats cease and culprits are collared, the family’s nightmare persists, demanding societal and systemic reckoning.
