Over 17 lakh students in Tamil Nadu are on the countdown to their pivotal Class 10 (SSLC) and Class 12 (HSC) board exams, with the School Education Department fortifying arrangements for an impeccable rollout. Transparency and order are the watchwords as preparations intensify.
Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozi presided over a pivotal meeting with officials, evaluating protocols to safeguard against disruptions. The department’s statement outlined the massive participation: 8.27 lakh for HSC, 9.09 lakh for SSLC, plus 25,051 for Class 11 pendings, with nearly 6,000 private candidates.
HSC exams span March 2-26; SSLC from March 11-April 6. Educational equity shines through, with hundreds of prisoners availing exams—281 in HSC, 395 in SSLC.
A robust machinery of 49,000 daily teachers and 4,900 flying squads will enforce discipline. Tackling scribe abuse, volunteers trained specifically will scribe, sidelining teachers to invigilation.
New perks include calculator use in accounting. Aadhaar checks lock private candidates to district exams. CCTV proposals are under review, promising next-level security.
These student-focused innovations, coupled with rigorous oversight, pave the way for Tamil Nadu’s board exams to evolve into a benchmark of fairness by 2026. It’s a bold step toward nurturing merit and opportunity in education.
