A decisive statewide offensive by Karnataka State Cyber Command has resulted in 68 arrests of mule account operators fueling cyber frauds. Conducted between December 2025 and February 2026, the special drive was detailed by Cyber Command DG Pranab Mohanty, who emphasized targeting the backbone of organized cybercrime.
These mule accounts, managed by herders who aggregate and exploit them, enable fraudsters to transfer, receive, and launder dirty money seamlessly. The campaign’s coordinated raids across districts shattered these illicit networks, which supplied accounts for bogus financial dealings.
Key outcomes include 60 registered cases, 869 identified mule accounts connected to 8,788 portal complaints amounting to Rs 85.05 crore. Police secured Rs 13.43 crore by freezing assets. With 32 search warrants, 35 operations confiscated 35 ATM cards, 37 passbooks, 80 mobiles, 28 chequebooks, 22 SIMs, and 50 related gadgets.
This operation is a critical step in Cyber Command’s ongoing mission to identify and sever financial channels used by cybercriminals, enhancing state-wide cyber and monetary security. As incidents surge, such interventions deter potential offenders and restore confidence in digital finance.
Karnataka’s proactive policing sets a benchmark for combating evolving cyber threats head-on.
