Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for a tech revolution as Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation for the HCL-Foxconn semiconductor facility in Jewar via video link on Saturday. Valued at Rs 3,700 crore, this collaboration between HCL and Foxconn aims to catapult India into the big leagues of chip production.
Strategically positioned in YEIDA’s 48-acre plot in Sector-28, adjacent to the Noida International Airport, the plant will specialize in OSAT for DDIC chips used across consumer electronics, automotive, and computing devices.
The project, executed through India Chip Private Limited and supported by the ATMP policy, is designed to ramp up indigenous manufacturing, slash import bills, and integrate India deeper into global tech chains. With Foxconn committing 40% stake and initial investments of Rs 312 crore—potentially rising to Rs 424 crore—the venture exudes promise.
Expect a ripple effect: bolstered R&D, advanced training programs, and a surge in employment opportunities for skilled workers. This inauguration not only boosts UP’s economy but also reinforces India’s strategic tech autonomy, setting the stage for sustained growth in the semiconductor sector.
