Karnataka’s helmsman, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, used a key appointment event in Bengaluru to rally health workers against caste and faith-based prejudices. On Saturday, at the Health Department’s Abhaya Hastha program, he distributed joining letters to 1,000-plus individuals set to bolster health and drug administration teams.
‘Healthcare is life’s noble service, not just a job,’ Siddaramaiah proclaimed, voicing delight at the fresh influx. Post his party’s re-election, the government has accelerated vacancy fillings in critical areas, streamlining processes that were previously bogged down.
Health, alongside education and policing, forms the bedrock of public service priorities. Over 2.5 million empty seats statewide are being tackled gradually, he informed.
Corruption-busting measures include counseling for recruitments and 5,700 transfers, mainly for doctors. The CM issued a stern advisory: shun intermediaries in transfer matters to uphold integrity.
All health personnel, medical or support, must embody humanity, he insisted. ‘Caste vanishes in moments of transfusion need, only to reemerge after healing,’ Siddaramaiah remarked sharply.
Advocating prevention strategies, the government is rolling out initiatives to elevate the state’s health framework, aiming for comprehensive coverage and efficiency.
