Delhi’s streets came alive with the whir of bicycle wheels during the Fit India Movement’s ‘Sunday on Cycle’ extravaganza. Timed with ESIC’s 75th anniversary, the event attracted elite athletes and everyday fitness lovers. Key participants included ex-hockey ace Rupinder Pal Singh, pro cyclists Tanvi and Sweety Malik, dance maestro Atul Jindal, and inspiring senior Sushil Antil, all united in promoting an active lifestyle.
In an exclusive interview, Rupinder Pal Singh credited the PM’s vision. ‘Fit India is a game-changer, motivating the masses to embrace fitness,’ he enthused. Linking it to the historic Commonwealth Games homecoming, he remarked, ‘Twenty years on, this chance to compete locally will spark unprecedented performances. Nothing motivates like national pride on home turf.’ He urged incorporating exercise into busy schedules.
Tanvi marveled at the pre-sunrise enthusiasm: ‘So much pride in this massive turnout.’ Choreographer Atul Jindal highlighted sustainability: ‘Daily cycling safeguards health and the planet alike.’ Sweety Malik, attending as a guest, was moved by the fitness focus. Veteran cyclist Sushil Antil, at 65, challenged the digital generation: ‘Youth, log off and pedal into fitness movements.’
Beyond the ride, the event symbolized a broader shift towards proactive health in India. As preparations for international sports intensify, these initiatives are cultivating a fitter populace, blending fun, fame, and function seamlessly.
