CHENNAI – The BJP’s Tamil Nadu chapter unleashed a fierce broadside against the DMK government Sunday, decrying a collapse in law enforcement and national security protocols amid rising extremism.
Party spokespersons flagged unchecked radical activities and illegal immigration as ticking time bombs. BJP state president Nainar Nagendran accused DMK of allowing Tamil Nadu to become a breeding ground for extremists.
Referencing Delhi Police’s arrest of six Bangladeshi spies in Tiruppur—allegedly tied to a Pakistan terror group and active on social media—Nagendran highlighted recurring illegal migrant captures in Coimbatore and Kongu regions. This pattern indicts state agencies’ competence, he argued.
Reliance on NIA and external police for Tamil Nadu raids underscores the local government’s security shortcomings. Nagendran blamed DMK’s Centre-hostile politics for eroding public safety, calling for an immediate purge of terror elements over appeasement.
K. Annamalai, former BJP state head, intensified the barrage, portraying Tamil Nadu’s shift from peaceful idyll to a safe house for global criminals, drug lords, and terrorists. He lambasted the diversion of elite officials to trivial procurement roles amid administrative decay.
The regime’s passive stance on grave threats, tailored to voter appeasement, is indefensible, Annamalai stated. DMK has stayed mum so far. This BJP offensive taps into widespread anxieties, positioning law and order as a battleground issue.
With elections looming, these revelations could erode DMK’s credibility. Strengthening borders, intelligence, and policing now becomes imperative. The political slugfest signals turbulent times ahead, where security trumps rhetoric in voter minds.
