Pension reforms in India are accelerating, with digital innovations at the forefront to simplify life for millions of pensioners. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare is spearheading this under PM Modi’s Ease of Living initiative. A highlight is the upcoming 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop, to be inaugurated by MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh on February 23 in Guwahati’s Administrative Staff College.
Jointly organized with other central departments, the workshop targets smooth retirement transitions for government servants. In-depth sessions will demystify retirement benefits, CGHS schemes, cyber safety, investment avenues, Bhavishya and unified portals, family pension rules, CPENGRAMS, Anubhav experiences, and digital life verification.
Over 350 employees from Assam, facing retirement in the coming year, will attend, gaining actionable knowledge to secure their futures.
In parallel, a Bankers’ Awareness Programme, partnered with Indian State Bank, will train bank staff on central pension procedures. The event features a vibrant bank exhibition where institutions display pension products, offer account setup assistance, and advise on optimal investment plans for pension funds.
This comprehensive programme reflects the government’s dedication to empowered retirements. By bridging information gaps and promoting digital adoption, it paves the way for hassle-free pension management, marking a new era of retiree support.
