Congress MP Imran Masood has issued a stark warning about the brewing storm of divisive politics at JNU after a heated clash between student groups. In his IANS conversation, he labeled it a sinister push to undermine the university’s secular foundations.
Dismantling simplistic binaries, Masood said, ‘This transcends Left or ABVP rivalries. Hate is being deliberately planted in JNU, the epicenter of secular India.’ The incident has ignited protests and discussions on the erosion of campus harmony.
Countering PM Modi’s Congress-bashing at the AI Summit, Masood flipped the script: ‘Destruction? Look to the Centre—they’ve demolished the nation’s progress.’ His rebuttal fuels the narrative of governance failures amid economic challenges.
Masood was scathing about the FIR on Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand. ‘Unimaginably unfortunate,’ he remarked. ‘Where have Sanatan Dharma’s champions vanished? Silent as a Shankaracharya endures smears. Examine the complaint’s shadowy origins.’
Regarding the busting of a terror plot with eight arrests, he urged precision. ‘Act decisively against terrorism—undisputed,’ Masood affirmed. ‘But spare the innocent; too many serve 20-year terms unjustly before freedom.’
Criticizing Taliban’s anti-women edicts, he challenged: ‘From which holy text do these emerge? They clash with Islam’s true teachings on women’s dignity.’
Through these pointed remarks, Masood not only defends JNU’s ethos but critiques national and global hypocrisies, rallying Congress supporters for ideological battles ahead.
