Bengaluru’s tech scene just got a gigantic upgrade with Amazon’s announcement of its Asia’s second-largest office opening on Monday. This 12-floor powerhouse, sprawling over 1.1 million square feet, will bring together over 7,000 professionals in e-commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services.
Inaugurated by Karnataka Minister M.B. Patil, the event spotlighted Amazon’s role in elevating India as a tech innovation powerhouse. Patil remarked, ‘These investments deliver top-tier jobs, invigorate ecosystems, and back our digital economy—we embrace those fostering sustained growth and skills.’
The campus forms part of Amazon’s expansive India strategy, following $40 billion already pumped in and a fresh $35 billion commitment through 2030. Perched 15 km from Kempegowda Airport, it’s crafted for seamless collaboration, adaptability, growth, and holistic employee care.
Samir Kumar, Country Manager for Amazon India, reflected on the city’s enduring appeal: ‘From our initial tech outposts to today’s innovation epicenter, Bengaluru pulses with talent.’ Fun perks abound: basketball/pickleball courts, amphitheater, green expanses, and communal areas. The two-story cafeteria offers a world menu.
Green initiatives include ethical sourcing, property repurposing, and efficient systems to curb carbon output. This milestone not only expands Amazon’s operations but also boosts Bengaluru’s global competitiveness, heralding a new era of job creation and tech advancement.
