India’s power giant Adani Power has bagged a prestigious five-year deal to supply 558 MW of premium electricity to Tamil Nadu via its Moxi Power arm. The TNPDCL-issued Letter of Award caps a hard-fought tender where Adani’s Rs 5.910/unit bid proved unbeatable.
From April 1, 2026, Tamil Nadu’s residents and enterprises will enjoy enhanced power reliability, grid fortification, and disruption-free supply. Moxi’s 1,200 MW Tuticorin plant, with its dual 600 MW units, is now fully contracted under PPAs.
Boasting 18.15 GW total capacity, Adani Power has locked in more than 95% of operations via medium- to long-term pacts, providing a buffer against volatile spot markets. The company eyes 100% PPA saturation for ongoing and upcoming projects.
“Such agreements deliver clear revenue streams and mitigate risks,” per an official release. Adani’s thermal fleet of 18,110 MW dots Gujarat to Tamil Nadu, plus a 40 MW solar installation.
Profitability soared in Q3 FY25, with pre-tax earnings climbing 5.3% to Rs 2,800 crore on the back of reduced financing expenses and solid execution. This contract not only empowers Tamil Nadu’s growth engine but also cements Adani’s leadership in sustainable power provision.
