Madhya Pradesh’s agricultural landscape got a major lift today with CM Mohan Yadav declaring a Rs 600 per quintal bonus for urad farmers, supplementing the MSP of Rs 7,800. This timely intervention is part of broader efforts under the ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh’ to uplift rural prosperity.
The CM, addressing the media, stressed the importance of promoting urad as a vital summer crop cultivated across five lakh hectares. ‘Our focus is on increasing farmers’ incomes through tangible support,’ he stated. The bonus is poised to expand farming area by three lakh hectares, enhancing food security and export potential.
Drawing parallels with the Bhavantar Yojana’s triumph—where soybean growers received Rs 1,500 crore—the government is rolling out the scheme for mustard too. With mustard on 28% of cropped land yielding 15.71 lakh metric tonnes, Mandi Board-led purchases will ensure fair compensation.
This announcement reflects a visionary approach to agriculture in Madhya Pradesh. By bridging the gap between MSP and market prices, the state is empowering farmers to invest more in their fields. Expect a surge in urad production, benefiting both growers and consumers nationwide.
