German Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann addressed the IGSTC Strategic Conclave 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, blending praise for India’s AI achievements with urgent calls to tackle the water crisis. He urged adoption of technical innovations for equitable water access across India.
Ackermann hailed the India AI Impact Summit as a ‘great event,’ with its declaration garnering signatures from over 80 nations. He noted Germany’s strong presence and India’s exemplary organization, which delighted visiting officials.
Turning to water, he described it as life’s essential resource amid rising global frictions. Referencing China’s upper Brahmaputra dam ambitions, Ackermann warned of escalating water-related tensions outpacing energy disputes.
India’s megacities exemplify the crisis, where clean water scarcity demands smart management. ‘We must distribute it fairly and efficiently,’ he insisted, applauding IGSTC’s focus on water for 2026 funding.
A compelling presentation on rural river projects inspired him, reinforcing the conclave’s value in uniting experts for actionable ideas. ‘This brainstorming with scientists and workers is invaluable,’ Ackermann said.
He critiqued global water profligacy, aligning with UN declarations on drinking water rights. Through Indo-German partnerships, he envisions sustainable technologies ensuring universal benefits and averting conflicts.
