Uttar Pradesh’s transport machinery is in overdrive for Holi, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government announcing extra bus services from February 28 to March 9. This move targets the massive influx of travelers eager to revel in the festival of colors with family.
Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Transport, flagged high-traffic zones in western UP, including Delhi and Ghaziabad, for special reinforcements. ‘Buses and staff are stockpiled there. A 60% load at starting points triggers statewide extras,’ he explained.
Directives are crystal clear: Keep every UPSRTC bus on the road, nix leave for contract crew, and demand timely vehicle overhauls from owners. Safety protocols are ironclad—quick response to snarls or mishaps, nonstop enforcement, and breath tests for all driving personnel.
No bus rolls out without passing muster on mechanics, seating, windows, and fire equipment. Sanitation drives at terminals and vehicles will run parallel. Rewards galore for exemplary service: Drivers logging 300 km/day pocket Rs 3,600 over ten days.
Hit all marks for full duty? Rs 4,500 awaits at Rs 450/day, with bonuses for surplus kilometers at 55 paise each. Support staff at depots and workshops get Rs 2,100 or Rs 1,800 based on days served. Exceptional cases greenlit by committees earn more.
Certificates of appreciation will spotlight top revenue zones’ leaders and ten ace depots. By fusing operational muscle with motivational perks, the Yogi government aims to deliver hassle-free, secure Holi commutes, reinforcing its people-first governance.
