Patna’s celebrated JP Ganga Path is poised for a significant upgrade, with extension plans to Buxar officially unveiled by Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal during assembly proceedings. The revelation underscores the Nitish Kumar government’s commitment to world-class riverfront infrastructure.
The discussion ignited in the budget session’s question hour when BJP MLA Mithilesh Tiwari inquired about post-Koilwar developments. While praising the progress so far, he voiced Buxar’s residents’ long-standing demand for inclusion, fueling hopes for better access and scenic drives.
Jaiswal hailed the path’s evolution from a local road to a ‘Marine Drive’ rival, attributing it to visionary leadership. ‘Biharis no longer need to visit Mumbai; our Ganga Path offers the same charm right here,’ he asserted. Key works include extensions to Bidupur and strategic linkages of roadways with waterways.
Emphasizing a broader vision, the minister shared the dream of stretching the corridor from Buxar to Farakka, integrating transport modes for efficiency and appeal. Though Tiwari sought firm timelines, the announcement marks a pivotal step forward.
Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Chaudhary chimed in wittily, advising against the Marine Drive label. ‘Mumbai’s icon is now inspired by ours—residents there aspire for a Ganga Path-like makeover. This is Bihar’s moment to shine,’ he remarked.
Economically, the project could spur tourism, real estate, and logistics growth along the Ganga. With such announcements, Bihar is gearing up to showcase sustainable development models, attracting investments and visitors nationwide.
