In a fresh escalation of Uttar Pradesh’s cutthroat politics, BSP president Mayawati tore into the Samajwadi Party’s plan to celebrate ‘PDA Day’ on Kanshiram’s birth anniversary. Calling it a blatant electoral stunt, she rallied her base by revisiting SP’s contentious history with Bahujan communities.
Mayawati’s X post cut straight to the chase: ‘SP’s PDA Day on founder Kanshiram ji’s jayanti is pure political farce.’ She portrayed it as a cynical bid to siphon votes from overlooked castes and classes, ignoring SP’s entrenched opposition to their cause.
Chronicling SP’s ‘unchanging character,’ Mayawati linked it to persistent oppression of Dalits and the underprivileged. Until now, she noted, SP had shown zero regard for these icons—only awakening for 2027 poll gains.
She invoked the 1993 alliance’s broken pledges on Dalit safety, culminating in the shocking 1995 Lucknow Guest House attack she claims was sanctioned by CM Mulayam Singh Yadav. ‘It’s etched in history,’ she emphasized.
Mayawati rattled off more grievances: SP’s renaming spree targeting Kanshiram memorials, from districts like Kanshiram Nagar and Sant Ravi Das Nagar to educational hubs and a Saharanpur medical facility. These moves, she said, deliberately demeaned Bahujan heritage.
Accusing SP of fostering anti-Muslim violence with devastating consequences, Mayawati depicted it and BJP as partners in polarizing politics that burdened UP residents.
Her final salvo urged SP to justify skipping state-level grief for Kanshiram’s passing. As accusations fly, this spat highlights the high-stakes battle for loyalty among UP’s diverse voter blocs.
