The Department of Health Research marked a new chapter in India’s medical research journey by launching the ‘Medical College Research Connect 2026′ at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area. This two-day national summit, held on February 26-27, 2026, assembles over 100 medical colleges to drive collaborative innovation.
At its core, the conference seeks to reinforce research ecosystems in medical education hubs, ensuring they are equipped to produce world-class outcomes. Supported by the Central Sector Umbrella Scheme’s Medical College Research Units, these efforts prioritize quality research promotion and infrastructural support.
Chief guest Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, Chemicals, and Fertilizers, shared the dais with special guest Dr. Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, head of the National Medical Commission.
Patel’s keynote speech underscored the central government’s dedication to health research expansion. She lauded the dedication of college faculty and researchers while challenging them to elevate their standards further. She articulated that superior medical research forms the bedrock for India’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Participants will showcase their institutions’ research achievements through detailed reports. The lineup boasts expert-led sessions on refining research proposals, accessing training programs, and delving into biomedical research methodologies via workshops and discussions. The emphasis is on experiential sharing to amplify research capabilities across the board.
By bridging gaps between institutions, the conference is poised to catalyze coordination and innovation, ultimately advancing India’s position in global health research.
