In a decisive step toward the 2026 municipal polls, West Singhbhum district finalized training for its counting workforce on Thursday at Scott Hindi Balika Middle School, Chaibasa. The program reflects heightened readiness to manage the post-polling phase effectively.
Leading the oversight were District Election Officer (Municipal) Chandan Kumar, Police Superintendent Amit Renu, and Chaibasa area observer Ejaz Anwar, who visited multiple training halls to provide essential instructions.
Other key attendees included Deputy Development Commissioner Utkarsh Kumar, Project Director ITDA Jaydeep Tigga, Establishment Deputy Collector Kumar Harsh, District Education Superintendent Praveen Kumar, and the full roster of master trainers. The focus remained on impartial, transparent, and serene execution of duties.
Officials reminded all that counting is pivotal to democracy, urging rigorous fulfillment of responsibilities. The actual process kicks off February 27 at 8 AM at Chaibasa Women’s College for votes from Chaibasa and Chakradharpur municipal areas. Deployment includes 168 personnel with reserves and supervisors.
Training delved into practicalities: exhibiting poll boxes to candidates and agents, seal verification and opening, ballot separation, and precise vote reckoning. Unwavering compliance with protocols was ordered to ensure efficiency, clarity, and conflict avoidance.
As preparations peak, this training fortifies the electoral backbone, poised to deliver results that stand unassailable. The district’s meticulous approach bodes well for upholding democratic values at the grassroots level.
