The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is gearing up for its 57th convocation ceremony for the 2024-25 batch, drawing high-profile dignitaries including Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Scheduled for Friday in New Delhi, the event promises to be a celebration of talent and forward-looking development in media studies.
Radhakrishnan will take center stage by awarding top students, while Vaishnaw, in his capacity as Chancellor, will officiate the foundation stone laying for advanced academic and hostel facilities. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju’s presence, along with institute faculty and staff, will amplify the occasion’s significance.
Diplomas await successful candidates from an array of programs spanning journalism in English, Hindi, regional languages (Odia, Urdu, Marathi, Malayalam), Radio & TV, Digital Media, Advertising, and Public Relations across IIMC’s six campuses. A special feature: 35 medals for toppers, including 23 cash-awarded ones, recognizing superior academic prowess.
The infrastructure push continues with Vaishnaw inaugurating the Creators Lounge at the Incubation Center, a hub poised to spark innovation in content creation and media entrepreneurship.
Since its inception in 1965, IIMC’s network has burgeoned to include five regional centers tailored to India’s diverse regions—starting with Odisha’s Dhenkanal in 1993, followed by Maharashtra’s Amravati and Mizoram’s Aizawl in 2011-12, and Jammu & Kashmir’s Jammu and Kerala’s Kottayam in 2012-13—offering specialized journalism training in local languages.
This convocation encapsulates IIMC’s legacy of excellence and its vision for expansion, inspiring graduates to shape the future of Indian media with skill and innovation.
