Senior Bharatiya Janata Party figure Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has fired a salvo against the tumultuous events at Jawaharlal Nehru University, calling out protesters for indulging in ‘fact-free’ disruptions designed to tarnish India’s social fabric. A product of student politics himself, Naqvi shared, ‘Our generation protested fiercely, even behind bars, but never abandoned facts or decorum.’
Addressing reporters, he dissected the protests’ flaws: ‘How can an agitation thrive without evidence or self-imposed limits? It’s meaningless and purely destructive, aimed at spoiling the national mood—something we must firmly oppose.’
Regarding the NCERT controversy, Naqvi pointed to the Supreme Court’s role and the Centre’s remedial measures. ‘With the highest court involved and corrections underway, amplifying it further is unnecessary,’ he opined.
The BJP leader then pivoted to Congress’s predicament, slamming it for rejecting the voters’ verdict. ‘This party can’t stomach the people’s choice and has veered into anti-democratic territory,’ Naqvi stated. In response, he alleged, Congress weaponizes every issue—local or global—to confuse and frighten the masses, a strategy that’s profoundly misguided.
Naqvi’s forthright comments highlight the chasm between legitimate dissent and manufactured unrest, urging a return to rational political engagement in these charged times.
