Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s tenure has supercharged the National Rural Livelihood Mission in Uttar Pradesh, expanding its footprint from a modest 104 blocks to an impressive 826 across all 75 districts—an eight-fold leap since 2017. This strategic scaling is redefining women’s roles in rural economies.
Over 10.6 million women, organized into self-help groups, are receiving specialized training in high-potential industries including handlooms, traditional crafts, value-added food products, dairy enterprises, personal care items, and organic cultivation. The shift from dependency to entrepreneurship is palpable, with these women now fueling local job creation.
Backed by financial inclusion via bank linkages, market access support, and ongoing training, SHGs are thriving. Pioneering digital adoption, groups from various districts are selling online, connecting producers directly with buyers nationwide.
Looking ahead, the government’s plan to seed entrepreneurial ecosystems in each gram panchayat promises sustained momentum. This women-centric model is a cornerstone of UP’s developed state vision, demonstrating how targeted interventions can unlock grassroots potential and drive equitable growth.
