Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd kicked off the new fiscal with impressive February 2026 figures: 97,177 units sold, up 18% from last year, encompassing exports. The utility vehicle category was the star, delivering 60,018 domestic SUVs (19% YoY growth) and 60,685 total.
Commercial vehicles added momentum at 24,585 units. ‘Customer demand remains robust across categories, evident in our 60,018 SUV sales and overall 97,177 units,’ noted Automotive CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta.
Renault India celebrated a 31% wholesale surge to 3,495 units from 2,676 prior year, propelled by hot-selling Kiger and Triber models. Triber’s new MUVI variant leaped 57% YoY.
Renault’s enhanced lineup has fortified its market stance, with growth streaks from Q3 2025 (9%), Q4 (27%), and 32% in early 2026. The Duster comeback announcement is generating buzz, increasing showroom traffic.
In a market favoring spacious, feature-packed rides, Mahindra’s volume leadership and Renault’s nimble growth exemplify adaptive strategies. Analysts foresee this trend bolstering OEM confidence, potentially spurring investments in electric and hybrid frontiers.
