Sunday marked a significant victory for law enforcement in Ranchi as police dismantled a large-scale prostitution racket spanning various parts of the city. The sweeping action resulted in eight detentions: five young women, three men, and the capture of on-site patrons.
Intelligence gathered by SSP Rakesh Ranjan highlighted organized flesh trade in prominent locales including Lalpur and Chutia. The operation confined over two dozen females in temporary lodgings like hotels and apartments for commercial sex work.
Under directives from the SSP, City SP Paras Rana mobilized a dedicated unit for joint raids in different police circles. This tactical move netted the female operator who ran the show, along with her accomplices.
The women arrested are primarily from local Ranchi areas and Kolkata. The ringleader, known for past convictions, allegedly imported girls from West Bengal and neighboring states to fuel her Ranchi-based enterprise.
Ongoing interrogations seek to identify more participants. This raid not only disrupts immediate activities but also bolsters efforts to eradicate sex trafficking, reassuring citizens of a safer community.
