Tamil Nadu’s academic calendar hits a high note today with the launch of Class 12 board exams, spanning March 2 to 26. An impressive 8.27 lakh students are registered, including a bulk of regular school-goers and a dedicated bunch of private learners, all converging on 3,412 secure exam venues statewide.
SSLC exams trail closely, starting March 11 and wrapping up April 6. Following policy reforms, Class 11 public testing is history, replaced by targeted re-exams from March 3-27 for 25,051 students at over 2,600 centers—19,107 from schools and the rest privates.
In a testament to inclusive education, 281 prisoners will join the HSC fray this year. Operational heft includes 49,000 daily teacher-invigilators and a formidable 4,900-member flying squad network to safeguard against irregularities.
Chennai’s spotlight: 578 schools send 64,359 students (balanced gender split) to 250 centers, boosted by 3,157 privates. Infrastructure shines with five secure paper vaults, equivalent script hubs, 65 routes, and 6,150 deployed personnel—from 250 chief invigilators and officers to squads, room supervisors, scribes, and support staff.
With all safeguards in place, Tamil Nadu officials are poised to deliver fair, efficient exams, empowering the next generation’s aspirations.
