Bhagalpur’s streets are alive with anticipation for Holi, but the real buzz is around an innovative sweet: millet malpua. Spearheaded by entrepreneur Priyanka, this healthy Holi special is redefining festive indulgences in Bihar.
What makes it special? These malpuas, derived from superfoods like ragi, bajra, and jowar, offer nutrition without compromising flavor. Diabetics rejoice – this treat is low-glycemic and festive-ready. Orders from nearby villages are overwhelming her setup.
Priyanka’s path to success was paved by the PMFME initiative. A modest 1.17 lakh loan helped her formalize ‘Millets Mahila,’ now boasting 60 diverse products. Millet-based khichdi for lunch, kheer for dessert, idlis for breakfast – her lineup covers every craving.
Grateful for the opportunity, she says, ‘Under PM Modi’s leadership, women-led businesses are flourishing. These schemes give us wings.’ Her venture aligns perfectly with Atmanirbhar Bharat, emphasizing sustainable, local food processing.
The scheme, a 2020 launch, equips micro-entrepreneurs with resources to scale up. Priyanka’s rapid rise highlights its impact, turning food adulteration fears into opportunities for pure, wholesome delights.
This Holi, Priyanka’s story reminds us: innovation rooted in tradition can create lasting change. Her millet malpuas aren’t just sweets; they’re a movement towards healthier festivals.
