Congress stalwart Hussain Dalwai made headlines in Mumbai by justifying demonstrations over Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s demise. ‘As Iran’s head, his violent end raises questions—is this just? Mourners protesting isn’t wrong,’ he said, aligning with Sonia Gandhi’s critique.
He vehemently opposed U.S. and Israeli meddling. ‘They dictate global leadership, deciding rulers abroad. How presumptuous! India and Iran share deep bonds,’ Dalwai noted, decrying hegemonic tactics.
Gandhi’s article rightly flagged the government’s inaction, Dalwai said. ‘Days passed without response. India should spearhead peace talks—war serves no one. Our alliance with Iran demands it,’ he appealed for restraint and negotiation.
Addressing MVA discord on a key Rajya Sabha berth, Dalwai outlined Congress’s stance: ‘Kharge heads opposition; maintain our tally. Lend us the seat, reciprocate later. Uddhav for Council—fair deal ahead.’
On Nitesh Rane’s provocative remarks, Dalwai was unsparing. ‘Ministers must build Konkan, not divide. Chemical plants kill unique fish biodiversity—132 species gone. People at risk from toxins. Drop the Hindu-Muslim talk; focus on your ministry. You’re no big leader,’ he reprimanded, pushing for real progress.
