Punjab’s political arena heated up as AAP affiliates, including elected representatives, orchestrated a brazen intrusion into the Vidhan Sabha compound without clearance. Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa decried it as the ultimate desecration of democracy’s hallowed grounds.
Coinciding with the budget session and a Congress huddle in Chandigarh, the protesters – MLAs, ministers, band players, and workers – gained access illegally, laden with gear and zero authorization.
In a fiery X post, Bajwa stated, ‘Punjab’s common man faced insecurity first; today, the assembly joins the list. This unchecked entry of strangers is a security nightmare.’
The episode, he argued, exposes AAP’s frantic cover-up of abysmal policing. ‘When even the legislature falters, public safety is a myth,’ Bajwa posited.
AAP’s U-turn on standards they once championed underscores the Bhagwant Mann administration’s path to state devastation, bereft of public welfare initiatives.
Defying security mandates and assembly bylaws, the unpermitted rally lacked nods from the administration or Speaker. Congress insists on a full investigation into the entry permits and rigorous penalties for those responsible, amplifying concerns ahead of the Governor’s schedule.
